Health and Fitness ? 10 Tips to Reduce Stress and Prevent Severe ...

Bookmark and Share

Are migraine headaches, tension headaches, cluster headaches a bi-product of stress? Well, take a look back to the last time you suffered a severe headache. It could have been many reasons? You had a deadline to make, and you were frantically working non-stop to get finished. You may have got some bad news that you weren?t expecting. Your children just being themselves; this is another story altogether, or the big daddy of them all, Finances, or lack thereof. No matter what the cause, we all deal with stress in some form or fashion and in some cases more often than we would like.

What comes next? Yes, the dreaded headache. There?s nothing really we can do to stop our lives from happening. What we can do, however is to learn some steps to ease the way we overcome stress when these things do happen.

Here are 10 helpful tips that I use to ease stress and prevent headaches:

1.?Take a break- I know, you have to get finished. Well, take a break and do something that has nothing to do with work.

2.?Prioritize- Do one thing at a time. Take your most important tasks, do them first and move on to the next. We can?t do everything at once.

3.?Escape- Find a cool, dark place to relax.

4.?Listen to music?- Easy listening music is great for reducing stress. My personal favorites are soundscapes.

5.?Stretch your muscles- Most important, stretch the muscles in your neck. Tightened neck muscles are a large contributor to tension headaches and even in migraine headaches.

6.?Take a walk- Don?t get in a hurry, walking is easy on your muscles and will get blood flowing by gently increasing your heart rate.

7.?Drink water- An energy drink may sound good at the time, but your body needs hydration. We are made up of two thirds water. The more we get stressed, the more H20 we need. Try to drink at least 8 glasses per day.

8.?Laugh- Laugh often, laugh loud. No matter the situation, we can always find some sort of humor.

9.?Breathe- You better, or you will have more problems than headaches and stress! Seriously, when you find yourself in a tough spot; breathe slowly, in the nose out the mouth. The increased oxygen to your brain will do wonders.

10.?Enjoy a healthy snack- In our fast food world, we don?t eat right. We eat what?s convenient and what is quick. Grab some fruit, almonds or some yogurt. Stay away from candy bars and sodas.

I have had success getting rid of chronic tension headaches and migraine headaches by using these tips along with an?effective stress management plan and headache treatment plan. I am not a doctor, I am just like you; someone who simply got tired of simply coping with stress and wanted to overcome stress.

There is hope, keep working at it and remember to learn from it, laugh at it, and let it go
