This series of blog posts aims to examine the business model of a low quality home improvement company in Phoenix in the hopes that this will allow you to avoid doing business with such a company. In this blog post we will examine the project execution phase of a typical home remodeling project.

PROJECT EXECUTION
This phase typically is what begins directly after a contract is signed. It will include a meeting with the sales/design person and an assigned project manager. Rarely do home improvement companies in Arizona use other in-house personnel so the project is left to a series of sub-contractors to execute the project. Often times each scope of work is bid out which puts the company who is executing the project in conflict with the customer because profit margin can be increased by the lowest subcontractor bid.
?
The challenge in project execution within this model is that time frames become elusive.
Sub-contractors often work on several projects at the same time and work for several contractors at the same time. Therefore, as soon as time goes off track, a sub-contractor will inform the project manager that he is off on another project because of the delay and will not be able to arrive to do his portion until sometime off in the future. These delays continue from one trade to the next until a project that should take 6 weeks takes 6 months. This will certainly create the feeling from the customer that they are attempting to run their own project and the level of frustration during construction grows and grows.
