Okay, first a short quiz.
What is the one dish that most people consider "diet food?" Salads, right?
What do many people, especially people who have been on lots of diets, feel about salads? They often think low calorie healthy salads are boring and tasteless.
Hey, I used to feel that way.
On my first diet, when I was a very overweight teenager, I was told that I could eat lots of salads as long as I did not put any dressing on them. What? Are you kidding? Salad without dressing? Talk about boring and tasteless! The only salad I wanted to eat when I was overweight was one that was drowning in some full-fat ranch salad dressing!
Well, because I did not know any better and because I truly did want to get those horrible extra pounds off, I did end up eating many boring naked (dressing free) salads and I did lose weight...however I do not recommend that you lose weight that way. It is a recipe for failure.
If you don't like the taste of your salad you will probably not eat it. And that will cancel out the whole purpose of adding salads to your diet to help you lose weight and get filled with awesome life giving nutrients.
Over the years I learned that you can make your salad healthy and taste good at the same time.
All you have to do is add delicious healthy salad dressing to the vegetables and fruits in your salad. It is not hard to do. There are many healthy salad dressings you can easily make at home in 2-3 minutes, really! And they taste so yummy!
I lost over 70 pounds and have kept it off by eating lots of healthy salads with yummy healthy salad dressings. They fill me up with healthy fiber so I feel full and I am less likely to overeat. The healthy salads taste great so I don't feel deprived at all. And I feel so good about myself when I know I am taking good care of the body I was given to live in. Oh yeah, it also feels good to fit into my clothes and look so slim and healthy.
